Gone are those days !
Just now, I read an email from one of my friend which recalls my school days. I know the itention of this is to fit for most. Somehow, it fits more than 90 % for me. Though its a copy & paste from that email, I want to have it in my blog, atleast for me to read whenever I want to.
When
The school reopened in June,
And we settled in our new desks and
benches!
When we queued up in book depot,
And got our new books
and notes!
When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays, yet
managed to line up daily for the morning prayers...
We learnt writing with
slates and pencils, and
Progressed To fountain pens and ball pens and then Micro tips!
When we began drawing with crayons and evolved to
Color pencils and finally sketch pens!
When we started calculating
first with tables and then with
Clarke's tables and advanced to
Calculators and computers!
When we chased one another in the
corridors in Intervals, and returned to the classrooms
Drenched in sweat!
When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors,
Playgrounds,
under the trees and even in cycle sheds!
When all the colors in the world,
Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays!
When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table,
Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons!
When cricket was played with writing pads as bats,
And Neckties and socks rolled into balls!
When few played
'kabadi' and 'Kho-Kho' in scorching sun,
While others simply played
'book cricket' in the
Confines of classroom!
Of fights but no conspiracies,
Of Competitions but seldom jealousy!
When we used to
watch Live Cricket telecast,
In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks!
When few rushed at 3:45 to
'Conquer' window seats in our School bus!
While few others had 'Big Fun', 'peppermint' ,
'kulfi', ' milk ice !' and 'sharbat !' at 4o Clock!
Gone are the days
Of Sports Day,
and the annual School Day ,
And the one-month long
preparations for them.
Gone are the days
Of the stressful Quarterly,
Half Yearly and Annual Exams, And the most
enjoyed holidays after them!
Gone are the days
Of tenth and twelfth standards, when
We Spent almost the whole year writing revision tests!
We learnt,
We enjoyed,
We played,
We won,
We lost,
We laughed,
We cried,
We fought,
We thought.
With so much fun in them, so many friends,
So much experience, all this and more!
Gone are the days
When we used
to talk for hours with our friends!
Now we don't have time to say a `Hi'!
Gone are the days
When we played games on the road!
Now we
Code on the road with laptop!
Gone are the days
When we saw stars Shining at Night!
Now we see stars when our code doesn't Work!
Gone are the days
When we sat to chat with Friends on grounds!
Now we chat in chat rooms......!
Gone are the days
Where we
studied just to pass!
Now we study to save our job!
Gone are the days
Where we had no money in our pockets and still fun filled on our hearts!!
Now we have the atm as well as credit card but with an empty heart!!
Gone are the days
Where we shouted on the road!
Now we don't shout even at home
Gone are the days
Where we got lectures from all!
Now we give lectures to all... like the one I'm doing now....!!
Gone are the days
But not the memories, which will be
Lingering in our hearts for ever and ever and
Ever and ever and ever .....
Gone are the Days.... But still there are lot more Days to come in our Life!!
NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE ,
DONT FORGET TO
LIVE THE LIFE THAT STILL
EXISTS...... ...

Inspiration !

Today, I read one article. here it is for everyone who reads my blog:
"When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam. When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters. The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar. We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had another Sachin Tendulkar and we never will."

Year 2009 !!!
The year 2009. Yet again an eventful year with great recession across the globe still my hands were saved by gods grace.
On Jan 1, 2009 I was at Charlotte, North Carolina. As many others have, I don't have the practice of taking any new year resolution. One thing I was keen for the year 2009 is to hone up my skills and I believed that time, that this year is going to be a remarkable year for me.
Now, I would say. YES IT WAS. The journey of this one year in my life will be there in my memory for long time, next to my college days. It is not just because of different people I met, the persons I got inspired, friends I earned, the places I visited, the dreams which I lived, the changes that I drove etc, there are many other things which cannot be listed at one shot.
It was in the end of 2008, I travelled from India to Charlotte. Followed by that, after some 4 belligerent months there, I was made to travel to the place where I am now. (Cupertino, California.) Since I was eager to face new things that time, I was working in the assignment with my full spirit which really helped the team a lot.
Challenges always come with the package of satisfaction when you face that willfully. The first project at Charlotte and the project after moving to Silicon Valley are those kind. Later things are different. The end of dawn, away from lovable family has started. The focus is not on the challenges that I am expected to shoulder.
On the other side, this year till now, I haven't wrote one complete poem to my satisfaction. Probably, I do not want to make some of my hard feelings in black and white.
On the whole, the year 2009 is a memorable year for multiple reasons... I am expecting lot of changes both in my professional and personal life in the cooming year 2010.
With lot of hopes, dreams and prayers, I welcome the new Year 2010 !!!
Wish you all Happy New Year 2010 !

My Lonely Days

I feel that the days that I am passing now will be there in my mind for a long time. After some years, I may remember these days as the lonely days of my life. Though I am staying in the country which is a dream for many, though I am working in the technology where I have good expertise, though I have nice roommates, though I am earning more than I need, there is a kind of loneliness which is filling my heart and soul.
I read an article about the people who spend most of their time for their work and ignoring/sacrificing their personal interest. That adds little more fuel to this burning thought. The gist is this: For the people who ignores all their personal interest and stretching hard for heading the race in their corporate world, it says 'Even if you win the rat race, a rat is still a rat’. :)
From the time I read that article, those lines are ringing in my ears. I feel that life is becoming a prison now. Not with the walls and grilled gate, but with the situations and so called fate. I am just moving on its stream with very less control of mine. But my time will come; I believe I will break this prison on that day. Else..............
.. as my friend recommended, I will try to enjoy the walls and grill of this prison itself and will accept it with the fake smile.
PS: Nice blog with so much feeling know... Nothing. Its all is just to get the readers' sympathy... Chumma vilayatukku.... ;)

Memorable First day in US
It was a long and nice travel in air from my homeland to the land of hopes and dreams. When I landed in the capital city of that nation,it was little scary in the mind yet it was really a nice feeling.
Ok... Some how reached safely. Now I need to travel from district of columbia to the queen city of Unites states. When I am asking for coins in one of the book shop in the airport, to my surprise it was an Indian who is the owner of that shop.
She greeted me with a smile and gave her phone to make a call to my friend. Though we communicated in foreign language, the bondage and the spirit of being an Indian makes us to feel closer. I felt so happy in heart since the start is so good to get a help from an Indian for my first need in the foreign nation.
I didnt had a good sleep in flight. I felt so sleepy and my next flight is after 3 hours. So, all the check-in are done with no hurry. I enquired and was waiting for flight in one of the gate. The time came, but not the announcement. I waited for some time there then enquired. That is the shocking news. This is not the gate, I need to go to other gate.
For those who do not know, the gate that they told, can be reached by bording a shuttle vehicle from the place I was that time. Thats it. The challenge started there.
But I told to myself that nothing to worry. Even if needed I will take another ticket to travel to my destination. I called to my friend who will be waiting for me at my destination to pick me from airport. I called him to tell this situation. As usual I reached his voice mail. Do you know what that will say, here is this after his introduction, "You know the drill, talk after the beep". Nothing to talk, have to do something in action. Prepared myself for getting another ticket for the next flight to the customer care of that airways.
Meanwhile, I called my immediate manager to inform that I will be late to the destination and to convey this info to my brother in India. I just checked with him regarding the security there. He told me this, "Hey Gowsik, you are in airport, that too in the capital city of United states". This comforts me a little. Then, to the customer care for getting my ticket for the next flight.
When I am in the queue, I saw the board showing all the flight timings to Charlotte. No flights after that time in night. Next flight is on next day morning only. To add fuel to the flame, an american girl who stood next to me was crying for the same reason of missing the flight
----
Will continue later when I find time...

My first flight to a foreign country
Though it was a dream that I had for many days, it was not so exiting when I am starting from home. The preparation begins just this way. I was given just 8 days prior information (which was not confirmed as well) and the confirmation came just some four days before my travel.
With all these situations, going home and my desire to stay with dad and mom at least for a day after I received the plan happened but in very different way. It was all purCHASING. Yes that was really a hectic chasing for things to buy by dad, mom and myself. With this schedule coming in, the idea to search a bride for anna took backseat. Finally I just assumed that the travel would be there on that week for sure and so as we normally do in our home before any special moment, I took the blessing from elders and started from there.
After some tough days, I started to office from home and then confirmed them that I am travelling on that Saturday for sure. Then as the advices and suggestions from many of my friends and relatives the list items keeps on increasing. By that time I was in office to get all the needed documents from travel department, Finance department, Immigration, CCD and following up all those stuffs makes a complete day. Though it was not my intention, I could not able to contribute to the issues that were faced by the ETL team by that time.
If I am not saying anything about the rain that week at Chennai and most parts to Tamil Nadu, really the situation can’t be fully understood. There was a cyclone called NISHA in the Bay of Bengal, which causes floods in many parts of the state. The schools and colleges are closed for that complete week (Announcement of the holiday came daily on every morning for that day.) Even Infosys announces a holiday finally on Friday. With this natural intervention, shopping at Chennai is not an easy task to do. S o better to avoid any health issues at the eleventh hour, I just tried to stay away from rain as much as I can. Also, one important evening, got the blessing from other two most important persons of my life.
T ime went very fast in the last one week. Friday came. Dad and Mom arrived when chennai is mostly flooded. Infosys holiday announced. Packing started. Weighed and packet and then packet and weighed. By that time her presence in the sent off seems uncertain. Many thoughts in mind, but with only smiles on my face the night came and the time was getting closer and closer. She conveyed an interesting hint that time. That really relieves much of our pain.
Then the final countdown for the journey is about to begin. This is my first trip away from my home country. But that’s not the big deal that time. With the entire checklist and by the time of verifying all at home, I hadn’t spoke with her as I normally do. She felt very upset, who won’t. Though I understood, I can only understand, can’t do much on that time.
The travel started in car, with Mom, dad and anna with me. We went some 4.5 hours before the schedule. Though it looks too overcautious, by the kind of rain that we had for the past one week, that’s the right decision I would say.
Reached air port, spoke with all those to whom I should inform. Check in of bags was completed. Then the weight issue. The weight was bit more than it should be. It makes the last minute reduction of weight; this makes few of the vessels missing the chance to be with me in US.
After check in, I went and left some more shirts to mom. That time mom told me to take the sweater with me, but went replying that I will get that once immigration is completed. Only after that I get to know that once immigration is completed, passengers will not be allowed to go back again. POINT TO BE NOTED for any first time travelers.
Missed the sweater with mom and thank god I had phone with me that time. I just conveyed them this. Finally dad asked someone to give the sweater to me and the second mediator, who gets me that, asks for money. (No comments) since I have no Indian rupee other than 100/- which Anna gave, I gave that too. Then after the security check I was asked to wait till the boarding call comes. Spoke with all the four of my family members at that last few minutes before my flight. Though it is a travel to different continent, Anna still feels that Gowsik is still a kid. He just gave me some advices and dad and mom added to it. Finally I boarded the flight to DOHA, QUATAR AIRWAYS started. My first flight to a foreign country begins there….

The Countdown journey
It was one of the day that I was waiting for a nearly a month. That’s the day that I am starting home. As usual the travel tickets were not available for the train that I indented board. So, I booked for an express that starts at 6:00 PM (that’s what I initially thought) from central station. This is one of the rare occasions that I start home on Friday evening after coming to project. So, planned and packed well before. The day starts well in office. As usual in the project there is very less task to be handled.
So, I planned to leave office at 2:40 PM, so that I get the complete time cushion. As usual with some last minute books from lib started sharp at 2:50. There starts the surprise, when I saw the train time; it was at 5:00 PM. I kicked my self though I have reasons to that confusion. How do I miss that one? (Its bcos I have booked one another ticket for my friend on the same day for 6:00 PM train). Then when I am on my way to the gate, I felt thank god, I had enough buffer time to manage this crisis, so this mistake wont be much costly. But the surprise doesn’t end there... There are just two options left for us here. People who are here in this office can only know how inflexible is to leave out of office in these unusual hours.
1. Need to walk with that luggage for nearly 5 KM to the railway station
2. Wait for the shuttle service provided every 40 min
To my bad luck, I just saw the cab moving out when I was nearing the gate. So I need to wait for another 30 minutes or so. If we think of the first option, that too won’t be a wise since there won’t be any train from that station even if we reach earlier. So, I just stick to the II nd option. Urging the people around there and reached the station to board the 3:30 local train to central. With 90 minutes in hand it looks as an easy task, but remember, I need to cross 24 local stations to reach central railway station. Here are the station names in their order: Paranur, SP Kovil, MM nagar, Kattankulathur, Potheri, Guduvanchery, Urrapakkam, Vandalur, Perungalathur, Tambaram, Sanatorium, Chrompet, Pallavaram, Trisulam, Meenambakam, Palavanthangal, St. Thomas Mount, Guindy, Saidapet, Mambalam, Kodambakkam, Nungambakkam, Chetpet, Egmore and next comes PARK. After some long time, I am just doing the mathematics in my mind without any aid:
24 * 3 = 72
24 * 3.5 = 84
24 * 4 = 96
One more thing to be noted, even after reaching 'park' station (local railway station nearer to Chennai central station) I need minimum of 4 min to reach central and find my train. Anyways, the calculation works only if the train crosses every station in less than 3.5 min. This is really a tough ask. To my luck or surprise some stations are crossed in 2 minutes and some in 2.5 minutes and so, that gains me some time, but at Tambaram the train is taking some breathe it seems. I am just counting every minute of its stay. At that time, I just thought of the other alternatives if I miss this one. But, since it’s the start of the weekend it won’t be that simple for me to travel in general compartment with such a huge luggage.
Finally with some additions and subtractions, I reached the park stations at 4:50 PM and rushed to my train 3 min in advance of its scheduled time. I haven’t even bought the water while boarding. After boarding, I just felt as if I have achieved some thing great... As in films; irrespective of all troubles and hurdles, the hero wins atlast. But this count down story winds up with a comedy at the end, the train started late of 25 minutes than its scheduled departure. :)

Fueling the flame?
It is high time for every nation across the globe to be more cautious. The main cause of the concern is the inflation rate of our country which raises to two digit mark and crossing its 13 years high. As per the saying "Wise men learns from other experience", we need to learn from others around and also from the history.
There is an african country with most billionares yet starving for food teach many lessons to rest of the world. Imagine their position, their inflation rose to more than 6 digits (inflation >100000). The cost of the Paper worth more than their currency. Thats the real worst case. Though we can quote thousands of reasons for its cause, acting on the solution is most ultimate and vital. Its as simple as not to point the hole in the boat but to fix it, atleast not for others sake but to keep ourself in a safe place.
The supply is not matching with the demand. Government and its central banks trying with to take stern action with repo rate and CRR hikes. Is just the absorbing of money in the market cools down the burning fire? I dont think so. More investments on farming and increasing the food production may be the first and foremost action item. But its not as easy as it looks. Farmers dying in many parts of the country without food. With many other jobs in hand, government is sponsoring money in installments. By this time, they are left with two choices in their hand which I believe that they can do it more efficiently
1. Go ahead with reforms to curb the inflation and have it under their control.
2. Give away all the possible free bees (which may add fuel to the flame)to attract people to have a fresh start later in their next term.
With the 6th pay commisions approval at this point of time, i believe they are fueling the flame of inflation,(may be with the belief that they can calm it down in the next term) and waiting to catch the crane with butter on its head!
No politics only about policies.

Snapshot of this Quarter
Global inflation; many comments are in the floor of discussion about turbulence in the growth of Indian economy. Let me confine my space about IT and ITES industries of India.
As we all know, the basic cause of inflation is due to the surge in the crude and oil prices. This leads to the complete down trend in the almost every nation in the globe.
US is not an exception. Right from the day of dollar getting depreciated, the slow down becomes so obvious. Since, US being the major source for the Indian IT industry, slowdown of the US economy influence the Indian IT industries directly. There are numerous actions taken and carried out by the top officials of every firm to maintain their majestic growth, which they were showing consistently for nearly half a decade.
In these circumstance who won the race in their first lap of this financial year. Here is the snapshot of the results of the last quarter:
Though Satyam is not the leader in this race, their % growth is so significant which attract every one’s attention. Lets meet with the results in their next lap.
Disclaimer: All these facts are my own collection and people who find any contradictions/mistakes, please ignore & take this as a mere fiction.

What does 'Monetary Poilicy' means?
Let me share the information about the monetary policy in some simple words.
The basic objective of the monetary policy are:
1. Controlling Inflation
2. Encouraging growth
3. Financial Stability
When we hear these terms, they may look bit complicated. Let me say these with some simple stories for each.
See, This is the common question that will be raised. If everyone have enough money with them, then where comes the poverty and problem. Then why can't the government produce (print) more money and pass it on to the people?
The answer is simple. NO! It's because let us assume the cost of 1 Kg of vegetable as 10 INR. Suddenly if government prints more currencies and gives to the people and If everyone is made to be a millionaire, what will happen? Everyone gets ready to pay any amount to buy things. Which means the demand will increase.
What will happen if the demand increases and the supply stays at the same point? Obviously, it leads to the raise in the price. If the same extends for a considerable period, this may leads to a situation such that, people may have to take a basket full of money to buy just 1 Kg of vegetable.
Yes! The value of money will go lesser and lesser. What the government can do to control this inflation??? This is a big question. Let me say that in the next part...
Disclaimer:
All the content mentioned above are my own understanding about the article 'MONEY KUMAR and Monetary Policy' relaesed by RBI on November, 2007.

Correct others but don't Compel
The way of education in our country is always this way. Teachers teach and students should learn. I won’t say that it should be in vice versa. My point is that, the staff expects the students to go in the same way as they wanted. They are fully clutched without any freedom. It gets reflected almost till their lifetime. Even at the work place, the boss/superior minds less about their subordinate.
Is this a healthy sign? NO is my rock solid answer. Let me say it with a story:
There lived a nice old gentleman named Rohit. He is very kind and lovable. He is living alone in his house with his pet dog. He plays, sleeps and spends alomost his complete spare time with that dog. One day that dog falls ill which makes him very upset. The only living creature which spends most of its time with him is completely down. He takes his pet to the veterinarian. The doctor recommended him to take it to one another specialist for the kind of disease the dog is affected. “But the money for the treatment would be bit high”, he said.
But Rohit is ready to spend, to make his pet back to normal. The treatment started. The specialist recommended a kind of tonic which has to be given to the dog daily. Though it’s his own, beloved pet, he finds it very difficult to make his pet to take the medicine. He is very upset the way his pet avoided the medicine. At worst case, he even tied the dog and poured the medicine and made it to drink. Though he is not willing to do so, he feels that he has no other go to save his loved one.
On the third day, by the time when he is fighting with his pet to make it drink, accidently, the tonic bottle slips from his hands and went into pieces. The tonic spills on to the ground. Rohit pressure and sorrow sneaks up. But to his surprise, the dog licks the spilled tonic and went away to its place
That’s the end of this story. The moral is this, though you are the master, everybody has their own way of doing things. The dog’s nature is to lick its food. It doesn’t know whether it’s a food or medicine.
Anywhere it may be, be it school or office, if we want to force others, even if it is for their own well-being, that will break not just the relationship but many. So it’s least matter how they do things, what matters most is what they do and it’s real outcome. So Correct others but don't compel them to do what you want.
